Overview of Ordinance No. 1351

The Borough of Tyrone enacted Ordinance No. 1351 on May 12, 2014, to amend the Code of Ordinances regarding parking regulations. This ordinance specifically updates Chapter 190, Section 190-20, titled "Parking Prohibited at All Times. "

Key Changes to Parking Regulations

The ordinance amends the list of locations where parking is strictly prohibited. The following areas are now explicitly listed as no-parking zones:

  • Yellow Curbs: Along any portion of a curb designated with yellow paint (or the edge of the shoulder if no curb exists).
  • Traffic Direction: Against the flow of traffic on two-way streets (facing opposite authorized movement with left-hand wheels against the curb) or on one-way streets facing the opposite direction of traffic.
  • Intersections: Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection.
  • Traffic Signals: Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop sign, yield sign, or traffic-control signal.
  • Fire Stations: Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station. It also prohibits parking on the opposite side of the street within 75 feet of the entrance if properly sign-posted.
  • Highways: On limited access highways unless authorized by official traffic-control devices.
  • Railroad Crossings: Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing.
  • Signage: At any place where official signs prohibit parking.

Administrative Provisions

  • Reaffirmation: The rest of the Borough’s Code of Ordinances remains in full force and effect, except for parts inconsistent with this new ordinance.
  • Severability: If any part of the ordinance is found unconstitutional or invalid, the remaining provisions will still stand.
  • Repealer: Any previous ordinances or resolutions inconsistent with this document are hereby repealed.
  • Effective Date: The ordinance became effective on the earliest possible date provided by law following its enactment.
