Program Overview
The Borough of Hollidaysburg is accepting applications for the Hometown Heroes Application 2027. This program honors local servicepeople by displaying their photos on banners. Applications are accepted until all spaces are filled.
How to Participate
To apply, residents must submit a completed application form along with the following items:
- Signed Photo Release Statement: Included on the application form.
- Photograph: A photo of the veteran (will be returned; does not need to show the person in uniform).
- Donation: A $25 donation towards the program (check or cash payable to the Borough of Hollidaysburg).
Application Details
Applicants must provide the following information:
- Full name of the serviceperson.
- Branch of military and rank.
- Dates of service.
- Current status (Alive, Deceased, POW, MIA, KIA, or Wounded).
- Whether the serviceperson has been honored in a previous Hollidaysburg Hometown Hero program.
- Era Selection: Applicants must circle the era they wish to have printed on the banner. Options include:
- Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2010)
- Operation Enduring Freedom (Sept 11, 2001 - 2021)
- Global War on Terrorism (Sept 11, 2001 - present)
- Persian Gulf (Aug 2, 1990 - Aug 31, 1991)
- Cold War (Sept 2, 1945 - Dec 26, 1991)
- Vietnam War (Feb 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975)
- Korea Conflict (June 27, 1950 - Jan 31, 1955)
- World War II (Dec 7, 1941 - Dec 31, 1946)
- World War I (April 6, 1917 - Nov 11, 1918)
- None (no era printed)

Banner Display and Pickup
- Display Period: Banners are displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
- Pickup Dates: Wednesday, November 17th and Thursday, November 18th.
- Pickup Time: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.
- Pickup Location: 305 Loop Road.
