Meeting Overview

The Borough of Duncansville held a reorganization meeting on January 14, 2026. The session began at 7:00 p. m. with the reorganization of officers and concluded at 8:14 p. m.

Officer Nominations

The following officers were nominated and moved for approval:

  • President: Annette Lewis (Moved by Jeff Lynn, Seconded by Nicole Estep)
  • Vice President: Jeff Lynn (Moved by Annette Lewis, Seconded by Nicole Estep)
  • President Pro Tem: Nicole Estep (Moved by Annette Lewis, Seconded by Jeff Lynn)
  • Vacancy Board Chair: Sue Kornowski (Moved by Annette Lewis, Seconded by Nicole Estep)
  • Borough Secretary and Treasurer: Jerrica Long (Moved by Annette Lewis, Seconded by Nicole Estep)
  • Open Office Records: Rodney Estep (Moved by Annette Lewis, Seconded by Bill Wiedemer)

Solicitor and Meeting Schedule

  • Solicitor Selection: The Council voted to hire Pat Fanelli as the Borough Solicitor.
  • Meeting Schedule: To accommodate Mr. Fanelli's schedule, the 2026 Council meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p. m. Workshop meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p. m.

Professional Services

  • Borough Engineer: Keller Engineers were nominated for the position of Borough Engineer.
  • Bridge Projects: Lehman Engineers were nominated to handle bridge projects and inspections.

Financial Reports

  • Tax Collection: Jessica Foley reported that total collected taxes for 2025 were $2,208,713. 56. An unpaid amount of $9,498. 20 will be turned over to the Blair County Tax Lien Bureau.
  • Budget Status: Employees are currently in a low spending budget until April. The 2025 and 2026 budgets were provided in the meeting packets.
  • Bills: The Council approved the payment of all budgeted bills as they come in for the year 2026.

Water & Sewer Department

  • New Position: The Duncansville Municipal Authority voted to add a water operator position. This new hire will work closely with Jerome, who will focus on sewer operations while the new operator handles water operations.
  • Action: The Council moved to advertise for the Water Operator position and approved the December water & sewer report.

Recognition

Cynthia Blontz was presented with an appreciation plaque for her 36 years of service. Mayor Eric Fritz also presented a proclamation declaring January 12th as "Cindy Blontz Day. "

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for February 11th at 7:00 p. m. at the Municipal Complex.
