Borough of Duncansville Council Meeting Summary

Date: April 14, 2025 Location: Municipal Complex

Attendance & Administration

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p. m. with the following council members present: Annette Lewis, Dave Shaw, Eric Fritz, Jeffery Lynn, Jerrica Grance, and Cindy Blontz. Rodney Knol was present as a visitor.

Prior Meeting Minutes

The council approved the minutes from the March 26th meeting and the Municipal Authority minutes from March 6, 2025. Both motions were moved by Jeff Lynn and seconded by Cindy Blontz.

Administrative Report

Copier Purchase: Ms. Grance reported that the office copier requires costly repairs and presented a quote for a new machine from "Doing Better Business" (DBB) totaling $4,208. 31. The Municipal Authority agreed to cover two-thirds of the cost.

  • Decision: The council approved the purchase of the copier from DBB for $4,208. 31.
  • Motion: Moved by Dave Shaw; Seconded by Jeff Lynn.

Budget Revision: Ms. Grance presented a budget revision reallocating funds from category 0192438 ($60,000. 00) to other categories:

  • $9,000. 00 added to 0100317
  • $4,000. 00 added to 0100342
  • $22,000. 00 added to 0109373
  • $300. 00 added to 152213
  • $8,500. 00 added to 0993376
  • $16,200. 00 added to 0993377
  • Decision: The budget revision was approved.
  • Motion: Moved by Cindy Blontz; Seconded by Dave Shaw.

Mayors Report

The police report was included in the meeting documents and approved by the council.

  • Motion: Moved by Cindy Blontz; Seconded by Jeff Lynn.

Committees & Reports

  • Building & Grounds: Bids for the phase 2 renovation of the Municipal Complex will be advertised in late April or early May.
  • Fire Company: The Chicken BBQ held on April 12th was successful.
  • Parks & Recreation: Jordan and Sam have finished removing invasive species and are currently planting fruit trees around the park.
  • Street & Equipment: The newly purchased street sweeper is operational; Jimmy will sweep the streets at least once a week.
  • Water & Sewer: Water reports were approved.
    • Motion: Moved by Jeff Lynn; Seconded by Cindy Blontz.
  • Duncansville Community Days: The next Bingo event is scheduled for May 8th. The Easter parade was well-received, though attendance was lower than usual due to weather.

Unfinished Business

Street lights continue to be an ongoing issue for the borough.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2025, at 7:00 p. m. at the Municipal Complex. The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 p. m.
