Municipal Data & History

North Woodbury Township:

  • Origin Date: 1837 (Petitioned Bedford County Court; formed from parts of Bedford and Huntingdon counties).
  • Population (2010 Census): 2,644.
  • Roads: 20. 06 miles of Township Roads; 1. 9 miles of County Roads.
  • History: Originally spelled "Woodberry. " In 1855, the western section was split off to create Taylor Township. The township is home to the Altoona-Blair County Airport (built 1938).

Martinsburg Borough:

  • Population (2014): 1,958.
  • History: Marks its sesquicentennial (150th) year in 1982. It is the oldest continuously incorporated borough in Blair County.
