Overview
The Williamsburg Municipal Authority (WMA) has released its 2025 Consumer Confidence Report. This document outlines the quality of drinking water provided to residents, detailing the sources of the water, treatment processes, and monitoring results for regulated contaminants. The report covers the operating period from January 1 to December 31, 2025.
Water Source and Infrastructure
- Source: The public water supply is groundwater drawn from the Gatesburg Aquifer.
- Location: Three production wells are located along Briarwood Lane in Woodbury Township, south of the intersection of Sage Hill Drive and Taylor Street.
- System Components: The system includes a water treatment/control building, two treated water storage tanks (capacities of 508,000 and 512,000 gallons), approximately 18 miles of transmission/distribution lines, and a booster station.
- Treatment: The primary treatment required is disinfection via the addition of chlorine to control microbes.
Contaminant Monitoring Results
The Authority monitored for contaminants according to Federal and State laws. No violations were recorded during the reporting period.
Disinfectant Residuals and By-Products
- Chlorine: Detected at levels ranging from 1. 17 to 1. 49 ppm in the distribution system and 1. 27 to 1. 71 ppm at the entry point.
- TTHMs (Total Trihalomethanes): Detected at 0. 626 ppb. This is a byproduct of drinking water disinfection.
Inorganic Contaminants
- Nitrate: Detected at 1. 44 ppm (Limit: 10 ppm). Sources include fertilizer runoff and septic tanks.
- Barium: Detected at 0. 0287 ppm (Limit: 2 ppm). Sources include drilling waste and natural deposits.
- Chromium: Detected at 2. 83 ppb (Limit: 100 ppb). Sources include steel/pulp mills and natural deposits.
- PFBS: Detected at 0. 31 ppt (Hazard Index: 1). Sources include manufacturing and land use runoff.
- PFHxS: Detected at 0. 473 ppt (Hazard Index: 1). Sources include manufacturing and land use runoff.
Lead and Copper
- Lead: The 90th percentile value was 14. 0 ppb (Action Level: 15 ppb). No sites were above the action level out of 11 tested.
- Copper: The 90th percentile value was 0. 14 ppm (Action Level: 1. 3 ppm). No sites were above the action level out of 11 tested.
Health and Safety Information
- Vulnerable Populations: Individuals with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders, the elderly, and infants may be more vulnerable to contaminants. These individuals should consult their healthcare providers regarding drinking water.
- Lead Risk: Lead in drinking water primarily comes from service lines and home plumbing. Residents are advised to flush pipes for several minutes before use if water has been stagnant for hours. Filters certified by the American National Standards Institute can help reduce lead.
- Source Water Assessment: A formal Source Water Assessment has not yet been completed by the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP).
